Calor Gas Limited has issued a product recall with immediate effect on a limited number of 4.5kg Butane cylinders. The recall relates only to those cylinders with a Next Test code of 33 and 34 and fitted with a TPA valve manufactured in 2017.

A small number of affected cylinders were found to release gas from the valve when it was in the open position and connected to an appliance. Please visit to check if your 4.5kg Butane cylinder is affected by this recall and how to arrange a return to one of our selected retail stockists. Please note, not all Calor stockists are included in the recall process, so it is important to visit the website and follow the instructions provided.

Step 1: Examine the tare disc

Examine the tare disc This disc has an imprinted ‘Next Test’ code (two letters followed by two numbers). If the numbers read 33 or 34 then please go to the next step.

Step 2: Check the cylinder valve handwheel

If your valve has TPA inscribed on it, please move to the next step. If not, your cylinder is not affected by the recall and is safe to use.

Step 3: Look at the side of the valve body

The manufacture date (YY-MM) can be located at the base of the valve. If this is 17-06 or 17-12, then your cylinder is to be recalled.

If your cylinder does need to be recalled, it poses NO risk of a gas leak as long as the valve is closed.
