Knife Angel Arrives at Hull

Knife Angel Arrives at Hull.

The local Brandon Hire Station are pleased to support the National tour of the “Knife Angel”

The Knife Angel is a 27ft sculpture made of knives and it has recently arrived in Hull. Its goal is to show the impact of knife culture and crime.

The sculpture, 'Knife Angel', is made up with over 100,000 weapons collected in a knife amnesty. It is in the shape of an angel and engraved with messages from families of victims of knife crime.

The sculpture was made to tour the UK but has so far only been shown in Liverpool - making Hull the second city to host it.

It will be visiting the city as part of the #NoMoreKnives campaign, launched by Hull Live last year alongside the RICH Foundation in a bid to rid the region's streets of knife crime. After months of planning, the campaign has been able to secure the Knife Angel's visit to Hull. It arrived in Queens Gardens on Monday, February 4, and will stay for a month, before the second leg of the #NoMoreKnives campaign bursts into action to teach the region's youngsters the consequences of carrying knives.”

The number of knife and offensive weapon offences rose to its highest level since 2010 in the past year, official figures show, we are pleased to do our bit to raise the awareness of such an issue.

Local sports and celebrities have all been supporting the sculptures arrival in Hull. The angel was officially unveiled by Assistant Chief Constable Scott Young and the Police and Crime Commissioner for Humberside, Keith Hunter, was made by sculptor Alfie Bradley at the British Ironworks Centre in Shropshire.

Steven Donnelly Branch Manager has led our support locally and has been happy to support such an important cause. The local Brandon Hire Station Hire shop has supplied all tools, fencing and toilets free of charge to support this important message to the local community.
