Hire Station Apprentice Training & Assessment Centre

Hire Station apprentices put through their paces in annual assessment centre

Carrying on the tradition from the previous two years, Hire Station recently held a training and assessment centre, bringing together apprentices across all three years of the apprenticeship programme. The Hire Station apprentice schemes are designed to give hands on experience within the workplace by combining job training with study. By working alongside experienced branch staff, the apprentices develop their skills that are transferable to a range of roles within the business.

There are fantastic opportunities for enthusiastic, talented and self motivated team players to give their career the best start imaginable. Our apprentices are taught skills to help them become key employees within our depots, by learning how to inspect, service, maintain and repair machines and equipment, including replacing parts and checking and calibrating instruments.

Apprentices were invited to Myerscough College, Preston, for an assessment centre and awards day. During the assessment centre the apprentices covered the following:

  • G42 and Toolminder master class
  • Practical use of workshop tools
  • Alloy tower
  • Damaged tower component assessment
  • Dust extraction thorough examination
  • Compliance update
  • Practical sessions hosted by Husqvarna and Makita

Awards were presented to all year groups along with two overall prizes for Biggest Improvement and Overall Apprentice of the year.
